Question about Schedule Variance and Cost Variance
A negative cost variance and schedule variance equal to zero means:
A. The project is over budget and on schedule
B. The project is under budget and ahead of schedule
C. The project is on budget and ahead of schedule
D. The project is over budget and behind of schedule
To answer this type of questions, you need to know the very basic formulas of EVM (Earned Value Management).
Check the page 182 of the PMBOK.
SV = EV – PV (minus is behind schedule)
CV = EV – AC (minus is over budget)
The answer is A, of course!

PMI Practice Standards: are they useful to prepare PMP Certification?
Hi
Apart the PMBOK itself, which is the main source of information to prepare the PMP exam, do you think the other standards are useful?
I didn't consult them to prepare the PMP exam, but I'm reading them now with interest, as they provide a different approach and additional understanding of the topics.
Did you use one of several of these Practice standards to prepare your PMP exam?
As a member of PMI, you can download these documents for free from PMI website.

Reviewing Leading Project Management Practices
Hi
I found this paper interesting to summarize the five Leading Project Management Practices, namely
Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK), Projects in Controlled Environments (PRINCE), Association of Project Management Body of Knowledge (APMBOK), International Project Management Association (IPMA) and the British Standards (BSI) BS6079-1:2002.
This doesn't give direct materials to prepare the PMP exam but it helps to position the PMP credential within the scope of different Project Management methods / standards / practices.
